How to get reimbursed for extra costs
As of December 15, 2019, flight delays of 2 hours or more entitles passengers to compensation for additional costs you have incurred in connection with a flight delay or flight cancellation.
Already after two hours of delay, the airline must offer you food, drinks and electronic means of communication (free WiFi). If the delay means that you have an overnight stay, the airline must pay for your accommodation and transport to and from the hotel.
Remember to hold on to your receipts!
If the airline does not offer you the above-mentioned, you are still entitled to compensation for your additional costs as long as these are within reasonable limits (five-star hotels, alcohol, cigarettes and expensive meals are generally not covered). Remember to save all of your receipts.
If you have incurred additional expenses as a result of a flight delay, or you had to purchase a new flight ticket, Myflightrefund.ca will be happy to help you get compensation for this. All you need to do is upload your receipts when you upload your travel documents.
